BFA - Intern Therapist
Hello! My name is Rose (she/her) and I’m an intern therapist here at PhIIRST. I’m currently studying to become a Couples and Family Therapist with a focus on Sex Therapy at Thomas Jefferson University.
The current version of who we are today is a result of all our experiences across our lives. By viewing issues through a systemic lens, we can look at the many experiences, cultural influences, family dynamics and societal pressures that impact who we are. Looking at patterns and relationships, we can facilitate better self awareness and initiate change. There are so many reasons why you may want to start therapy. No matter the path that brought you here, I am excited to get to know you and help you accomplish your goals.
The dynamics in a relationship are ever changing. Whether you have grown up together and are getting to know each other as adults, are opening up your relationship after years of monogamy, are exploring kink together for the first time, are managing a mis-match in libido, or are experiencing challenges due to a major life shift, couples therapy can help you to realign your relationship. Learning how to express your needs and to hear what your partner is actually saying can take time. We can work together to create a deeper understanding and help you connect.
Before I made the transition to becoming a therapist, I was working as an intimacy mentor and kink educator. As a result of those experiences I have a vast amount of experience helping couples, small polycules and individuals explore kink and non-monogamy. The origin of fetishes is fascinating, but I’m more interested in knowing how you want to interact with your desires. We can work together to explore if it’s a pattern you wish to break, or something you would like to experience without shame.
I have a particular interest in helping families navigate the issues that may arise when their child comes out as trans or queer. This can be a challenging time for a family, and how these changes are handled can affect the stability of your relationships. Working together we can allow everyone to have a voice in a safe place. Helping everyone understand the others point of view could calm the tensions brought about from the shift in dynamics.
My specialties include:
- Polyamory and Non-Monogamy
