LSW, MEd. (she/her)
Developing a strong therapeutic relationship with one’s clinician significantly impacts the effectiveness of therapy.
To build a trusting and authentic therapeutic relationship, I feel it is helpful to share more about myself and how I orient in the world. My name is Erica Hochanadel. I use she/her pronouns. I am a queer, non monogamous, cisgender, currently able bodied, white human sexuality professional. I also recently added the identity of mom to my repertoire and am feeling ecstatic to have become a parent. I enjoy binge reading fantasy books, being outdoors, doing hot yoga, cuddling with my animals, babbling with my baby, and spending time with loved ones.
As a clinician, I cultivate a therapeutic environment rooted in empathy, validation, honesty, and enthusiasm. I will never strong arm you into a treatment plan that you have not established for yourself. Instead, I will co-create a path forward with you and will continuously work to diminish the inherent power dynamics at play within the therapeutic relationship. Although I emanate warmth and compassion, I will not be passive in our work together. I actively challenge clients to grow, heal, and consider new perspectives and ways of thinking. I openly welcome humor, wit, and sass into our sessions and tend to think I am pretty funny (client evidence supported 😊).
I received a dual master’s degree in Social Work and Education in Human Sexuality from Widener University. Widener University is one of the few schools in the country where one can acquire a graduate degree in human sexuality, making me uniquely qualified to work with folks navigating aspects of their sexuality. Please note the term “sexuality” is expansive and includes a wide variety of topics (e.g. orientation, gender, relationship structure, pleasure and exploration, dysfunction and disorders, and much more).
Special clinical interests include (but are not limited to):
• Queer & Trans Experiences • Fertility, Infertility Treatments, & Family Planning • Neurodivergence (e.g. ADHD & ASD) • Ethical Nonmonogamy & Polyamory • Kink & BDSM • Infidelity & Affairs • Erectile Challenges • Anxiety Disorders • Trauma Treatment • Attachment Healing • IFS (e.g. Parts Work) • Working with Teens, Adults, Individuals, Couples, Families, Friends, and Folks in Expansive Relationship Structures.
*** My unique niche is working with clients at the intersection of queerness, neurodiversity, and ethical nonmonogamy. ***
I am grateful for the opportunity to be able to work with you. Please reach out to schedule a free consultation so we can see if we are a good fit for one another. I look forward to connecting!
